Israel lobby

"Stop With the Stereotypes, Already"

“The Jews control American politics” is, we are frequently reminded by Zionist attack dogs, an “antisemitic trope”. The defeat of one of the few Republicans critical of Israel in a congressional primary race has, however, reinforced the “trope” to an eye-opening extent. Thomas Massie, sitting Congressman for the largely rural fourth district in Kentucky, has just been defeated in what the Israeli daily newspaper Haaretz describes as “the most consequential Republican primary”. Massie had refused to bow to the plutocracy and the Israel lobby, incurring Donald Trump’s wrath and handing his rival, Republican-defector and independent Ed Gallrein, millions of dollars in funding from Zionist billionaires, who teamed up with the President to get Massie out. Despite Trump’s vitriolic attacks on his record, Massie’s voting history shows that the seven-term congressman had a near perfect score. Over 14 years, Massie almost always voted with his party. The few times Massie did not vote straight down the Republican Party line was when it came to deficit spending, foreign aid giveaways, war, mass surveillance of Americans, and—most notably—the Jeffrey Epstein Transparency Act.
Massie defended his record, telling reporters: “I vote with Republican leadership 91% of the time. The other 9% of the time they’re protecting pedophiles, prioritizing corporations over farmers, spending us into oblivion, or starting another war.” The Israeli lobby swung into action and pulled out all the stops to replace Massie with a pro-Zionist. Notorious Israel-firsters Miriam Adelson, Paul Singer and John Paulson between them threw more than $25 million into the race. Interviewed during the campaign, Massie told CBS: “They tried to buy my vote for 14 years, and it was never for sale. Now they’re trying to buy a seat here in Kentucky. I’m talking about the Israeli lobby, AIPAC, Republican Jewish Coalition, Miriam Adelson, Paul Singer, and John Paulson. “These are the groups that have given 95% of the money to my opponent because they’re mad at me over foreign policy. With Israel, it’s completely one way. And they drag us into wars. They’ve convinced us that Iran is just days away from a nuclear weapon, and they’re perpetually that way. This is not our war. A lot of Republicans would be aghast to know that we’re giving $3.8 billion a year, every year, to a country that funds public abortions.” In his concession speech, Massie joked to his supporters: “I would have come out sooner, but I had to call my opponent to concede, and it took a while to find him in Tel Aviv”.
While speaking of “the Israel lobby” or “Jewish money” is falsely presented as “antisemitism” when done by anti-Zionists (Jewish as well as Gentile), the “lobby” themselves are very open about it. John Podhoretz openly boasted of the key role that “Jewish money” played in defeating Rep. Thomas Massie: “We have to use what means there are at our disposal, and […] that is Jewish money. [...] This is an existential issue for Jews. Jews explicitly give money because they want to make it clear to antisemitic candidates need to know they are going to have to go through a buzzsaw [to get elected] … we will do what we can to prevent them from taking office. What other choice does American Jewry have?” Pressing Netanyahu & Co. to stop bombing, shooting and starving Palestinian and Lebanese children, for a start. And laying off interfering in the politics of rural America with millions of dollars from New York.
If these political gangsters are really worried about “antisemitism”, they should seek to reform their behaviour, and to press the war criminals in Tel Aviv to do the same, rather than apparently going out of their way to conform to the stereotypes they demand we all pretend not to notice. I think it is a good thing if Massey and the people like him and others believe that if you cross the line into anti-Semitism, Jews are going to use the power that we have openly to go for you. Because what other recourse is there? Are we just going to sit here and take it, beg for scraps, hope that nice people are nice to us? The Democratic Party is going explicitly anti-Semitic. We can see it happening. People are getting benefits, as Seth says, for being anti-Semites. That seems to be part of an appeal in primaries to the left and the party. We have to use what means there are at our disposal. And in my view, I'm going to put it blank, that is Jewish money. There is an enormous amount of Jewish money in politics, by which I mean Jewish donors, wildly disproportionate, not only charitably, but politically. And when I say charitably, I mean nobody really knows the numbers. Jews make up 2% of the population. According to some studies, Jews make up 20% of the charitable contributions made in the United States annually. That is a tenfold. Think about that. Think about the disproportionate of that. And in politics, it's pretty close also. And if that money isn't used, why do people give money? Because they want to influence elections to get people elected who reflect their views. Well, this is an existential issue for Jews.
And the Jews who explicitly give money because they want to make it clear to anti-Semitic candidates that they are going to have to go through a buzzsaw and that they are not going to simply waltz in and be, you know, be, if they're treated with kid gloves by the New York Times, we are double time going to do what we can to expose who they are. To find out what we can find out about them that will harm them and that we will do what we can to prevent them from taking office. What other choice does American Jewry have?
