Trump’s Iran humiliation and Israel as scapegoat: Part 2. The persistent, false identification of Israel’s ‘genocide’ as an all encompassing reference misses the full reality

I have added a Part 2 to the article I published on the Daily Kos (and my Substack) yesterday more as a broader response to those who continue fixed on the issue of ‘genocide’ by Israel in its Territories and my argument that this is not an accurate representation.

Some commenters gloss over then apparently dismiss (or simply don’t consider) the details and more specific explanations I’ve offered to include my significant criticism of Netanyanu and his violent Jewish Supremacist coalition. This includes my position that Netanyahu – with selected members of his coalition, notably, Smotrich and Ben Gvir – are potential war criminals. I wrote this again in my article yesterday and have done so in many others I have posted here and elsewhere.

The broader and interconnected geopolitics, History and realities on the ground must be better considered.

Netanyahu has perpetuated far disproportionate violence, destruction and mass slaughter in Gaza, which is past horrific but I will continue to argue (along with others) that this is still not ‘genocide.’ South Africa ran to the ICC and UN for a declaration of ‘genocide’ against Israel almost as soon as Israel started to respond to Hamas in Gaza. The ICC and UN were then only too happy to oblige but without a single reference to Hamas terror or its small genocidal slaughter of Oct 7 in southern Israel.

Hamas terrorists had fully intended to move beyond southern Israel but were, fortunately, stopped if not in time for their mass localized slaughter and extreme sexual violence in southern Israel. And, yes, the extreme sexual violence perpetrated by Hamas was not a conspiracy theory but tragically real. I vividly recall seeing one video of a Jewish woman, her pants from her groin down soaked in her own blood, being pushed into a vehicle by Hamas terrorists and the likely perpetrators of her sexual assault to become one of 200 + hostages.

It is worth noting, too, that Hamas’ first targets were the ‘peace’ kibbutzim; that is, those Israelis left of center who did NOT support Netanyahu and DID support a two-state solution. Members of the ‘peace’ kibbutzim also routinely assisted Gazan citizens to include driving them into Israel for medical appointments and treatment to include for cancer.

But the fact that Hamas ended all this on October 7 has barely been an afterthought for those even so aware. Any ‘genocide’ is by Hamas and its sponsors in Iran and includes not only Israel Jews but Gazan citizens, too. How many Gazans died just for Hamas’ actions and the inability by their citizens starting on October 8 to continue to receive medical care to include cancer treatments? I’d hypothesize quite a few… But Hamas has not been held accountable for this, either. And, as Hamas intended, many of those left of center once strongly supportive Israelis have had second thoughts about it all as a result.

Modern UN leadership has maintained a strong theme of opposition to Israel while quick to reach often inaccurate conclusions. I do not say this reflexively or defensively but based on fact and data. This includes many of the actions of United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) especially in Gaza which gave aid and assistance to Hamas over an extended period. This is fact. At least several members of UNRWA also participated with Hamas in its genocidal attack in Southern Israel as part of the October 7 massacre.

That Gazan citizens were deliberately set up by Hamas to cover for them, to suffer for them, die for them in large numbers, starve for them and become international photo ops for them remains routinely overlooked and excused.

The fact that Hamas did not bring any citizens, to include women and children, into their maze of tunnels to protect them from Israeli bombs is never mentioned.

That Hamas is now back in control of about 50% of Gaza and armed with thanks to the ‘great negotiator,’ the orange hued Trump, and resuming it’s terror campaign of torture, brutalization and murder of Gazan citizens also seems to be routinely overlooked since it is not Israel doing this killing.

Why is that?

Israel has been under constant and, periodically, larger scale persistent deadly attacks since 1948 and over the past decades by Iran and its proxies to include Hezbollah and Hamas though this also barely seems to register for many. As a sovereign nation, Israel does have its own right to security and stability no matter individual political opinions outside of Israel. The average Israeli knows they could die on any given day be it by car or knife attacks, by bombs, missiles, or random mass shooters.

How many others in the West think they could live like that each and every day to include it not having an impact?

This is all of primary relevance to and shapes Israel’s citizenry just as Palestinian citizenry is shaped by Israel’s elicited violent response and own hard Right. Hamas’ genocidal massacre and extreme sexual violence of October 7 is blown off by far too many even as they scream about Israel’s ‘genocide’ but without providing any relevant solutions.

The elimination of Israel has been a routine part of so many supposed ‘pro-Palestinian’ rallies across the West but is not, of course, an option. (And I am not even remotely inferring that was at all intended by comments in the string….but it is an all-too-common refrain by far too many others in far too many places.)

As I wrote, I resent seeming to appear to ‘defend’ Netanyahu as I would not be his last defender on Earth. But a more and better understanding of authentic History and geopolitics would benefit many

Yes, Israel and Jews overall have long has been maligned though that was not the primary focus of my Part 1 article from yesterday. I did identify that Israel is about to be Trump’s scapegoat #2 (following scapegoat #1 in JD Vance) for his loss and humiliation in Iran while emphasizing that Israel can’t be expected to adhere to Trump’s surrender MOU dictated to him by Iran when they (Israel) were blocked from participation and, therefore, not a signatory to anything.

Turns out that Iran earlier today shut down Hormuz again in supposed retaliation to Israel’s self-defensive actions and continued presence in southern Lebanon. This is even though Trump has repeatedly promised that Hormuz would be open, safe and without tolls for at least 60 days. Trump lied. Surprised?

Israel may wind up as scapegoat #1 for both Trump and Iran over Vance as Trump’s scapegoat #2 for his being a fool and sell out. Hezbollah killed four more IDF soldiers two days ago to include a tank battalion commander. Hezbollah killed another IDF soldier and wounded 13 during an attack last night. But Israel is supposed to unilaterally not return fire and leave.

I’ve also talked about how any such agreement must go both ways. If Iran, through Trump’s nonsensical surrender MOU, wants Israel to stop responding to Hezbollah, then Iran and Hezbollah must guarantee they will leave Israel alone. Neither will, of course, because their long openly stated and continuing objective is the total and true genocide of every Israeli Jew, and any other Jew they can access as has happened in Australia, the UK, the US and elsewhere. Such attacks have already occurred multiple times in the US alone from Pittsburgh to, very recently, Michigan.

This includes an arson attack and attempted murder of the Jewish governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, and his family last Passover due to his positions on Israel. The attempt was fortunately thwarted by members of Governor Shapiro’s protection detail from the Pennsylvania State Police. But this was not before the would be killer lit off a huge arson fire in the downstairs of the Governor’s mansion while Shapiro and his family were upstairs. I’ve written more about this elsewhere, too.

And I’ve identified, those who criticize my position that Israel has not conducted a true genocide in the Palestinian Territories typically overlook a great deal of clear and sharp criticism I direct at Israel simply in that I won’t and don’t call Netanyahu’s actions ‘genocide.’ I’ve identified Netanyahu as a potential war criminal, talked about the need to stop terrorist West Bank Jewish settlers and discussed the repeated, extreme and disproportionate Israeli military violence both in Gaza and Lebanon.

I’ve also said that Israel must STOP destroying civilian apartment blocks in Lebanon (as it did in Gaza) because they – think – they might have seen one or two Hezbollah operatives run into a given building.

But using the word ‘genocide’ will somehow make any of this different?

That I correctly refuse to jump on a faux ‘genocide’ bandwagon and agree that Israel is the sole ‘bad guy’ apparently negates all else for a percentage. I agree with most of the criticism of Netanyahu and his violent Jewish Supremacist coalition. I despise Netanyahu and his coalition. Whether we correctly identify Netanyahu’s use of mass slaughter and disproportionate violence or the incorrect but politically preferable reference to ‘genocide’ by many doesn’t change a single thing or less prioritize the need to end the fighting and death.

Such change must be from both sides rather than expected from Israel unilaterally. But only Israel is the constant target and sole boogeyman.
