No, the Gaza war's not over. There's still a real estate deal in the rubble Источник: https://drlou.substack.com/p/no-the-gaza-wars-not-over-theres ============================================================ No, the Netanyahu and Trump war in Gaza is not over. Not by a long shot. That Ran Gvili’s body has, inexplicably, not yet been returned, is one reason. You’d think that Trump or one of his business agents, either Witkoff or Kushner, would put in a direct call to Hamas. But their priority is now to create a real estate deal on the bodies of dead Israelis and Gazans. Free Thinking is a reader-supported publication. I think an overriding reason the war in Gaza is not over is because neither Netanyahu nor Trump want it to be over. And Hamas certainly doesn’t want it over either. Ending the war in Gaza would not align with Netanyahu and his primary coalition member’s intent, Trump and his primary business agents or Hamas with its anti-Israel Death Cult. Have folks finally realized that Trump is not remotely a ‘friend of Israel’ but a lifelong and virulent antisemite? That Trump is a friend only of Trump? He is also a ‘friend’ of Christian Zionists and aligned evangelicals who have even less love for Israel and more for their own apocalyptic New Testament fantasy of punching Jesus’ ticket to return to this Earth. And this NT fantasy doesn’t end well for Jews in Israel - or anywhere else - for that matter. The other powerful reason the war isn’t over is that Trump and his Gaza business agents, Witkoff and Kushner, don’t want the war over. The so-called ‘phase 2’ isn’t going to happen. And the international stabilization force is not going to happen. One reason is that Gaza remains an active war zone. Another is that an ISF would substantially interfere with plans by both Netanyahu’s extremist political coalition and Trump’s real estate coalition. Hamas is not gone or disarmed with no intent of doing so. Hamas is, in fact, now reasserting its brutality and control over the portion of Gaza gifted to them by Trump and will never tolerate an ISF either. Has anybody wondered why Trump gave Hamas back a portion of Gaza while simultaneously telling them to disarm? Trump and his team are still fully focused on his ‘Gaza Riviera’ if now by a different name though they pretend their original ethnic cleansing intent off the table. It’s not. It never was. In fact, leaving Hamas armed, able to regroup and strengthen is, I’d argue, part of the plan Israel’s strategy to emasculate Hezbollah was brilliant and meticulous. Israel’s attack on Iran, minimally assisted by Trump and the US (so Trump could claim more unearned credit), was also remarkably effective. Share But in Gaza, Netanyahu immediately started to drop 2,000-pound bombs in order to maximize the obliteration of that territory. I’m convinced the high death toll of Gazan citizens was more collateral damage to Israel rather than deliberate intent. Hamas, on the other hand, knew full well what would happen to Gaza after October 7. Hamas has no interest in Palestinian rights or sovereignty which is anathema to them since it conflicts with their sole intent to ethnically cleanse every Jew from Israel and extend an Islamofascist dictatorship over the territories. And Hamas will fight to the last Palestinian citizen to do so. I truly don’t believe that Netanyahu and his coalition’s primary goal has been specifically to kill huge numbers of Gazan citizens. They don’t care that they have but I don’t believe it was their primary intent. Instead, I’d offer that Netanyahu’s primary goal was to flatten Gaza to the point where it was wholly uninhabitable. This lets Israel end any viable plan for a two-state solution - which will come back to haunt - while being able to resettle and ultimately annex Gaza and a large chunk of the West Bank. And flattening Gaza to the point where about every building will need to be rebuilt from the first brick and stone also allows for Trump and his real estate team to take center stage. As Hamas rebuilds and predictably rejects any intent to disarm while increasing its brutality and targeting of Israel, Netanyahu and his extremist coalition will have the excuse needed to go back in full out after them. This will simultaneously complement Trump’s plan to control and collect fellow investors towards creating a high-tech and resort corridor along Gaza’s Mediterranean Coast Share Netanyahu’s claimed goal to completely eradicate Hamas’ was neither logical nor feasible from the start but designed to drive a never-ending war. Smotrich and Ben Gvir still intend to resettle Gaza as they continue to push young, violent and illegal Israeli settlers to rampage with impunity in the West Bank attacking, killing, destroying and taking more land from Palestinians many of whose families have been farming the region for generations. That Smotrich and Netanyahu, in fact, just approved 19 more West Bank settlements on top of blood-soaked earth is hardly a coincidence. It’s not over. It’s all far from over.
